Safegate Moms is a
program designed to provide the opportunity for parents, students, and
teachers to work together to make the school a safe and nurturing place
for learning. The following guidelines for the program have been
established. You will be the first person a visitor sees up on
entering our building, so please dress appropriately so that you give a
good impression of yourself and our school. (We will provide you
with a George t-shirt upon request.).
1. Greet everyone that
comes in the door: "Welcome to George- May I help you?"
-
If they are having
lunch with their child, attending an assembly or are going to the
cafeteria to pay for meals, please give them a visitor's sticker.
-
Ask them to sign in
and then provide directions if needed.
-
If they need anything
else, please ask them to step into the office so that the office
staff can further assist them.
2. Help maintain the
bookshelf in the lobby; this is an important part of our Parent Center.
Let's try to keep free information and handouts here and if a parent
asks for information about something specific that we do not have, let
parents know that there are other materials available in the counselor's
office. Please look over the bookcases in the counselor's office
waiting area so that you are familiar with the resources that we have
available.
3. You may have the
opportunity to read to a child, or help him/her with some other academic
work such as spelling words or math facts. Please let us know if
you feel comfortable working in languages other than English.
4. You may also have the
opportunity to help teachers by cutting out objects or in some other way
to prepare for their classes.
5. At special times
during the year we need more people working to help things run smoothly,
for example:
After you have read these
guidelines please fill out an application form and return it to the
school along with a copy of your current drivers license.
Thank you so much for
taking an interest in the children and in our school! We look
forward to seeing you! |
